Facing hardships under British rule, they initially traded coffee beans for essentials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government addressed their issues, inaugurating housing projects. On July 21, 2023, Modi pledged Rs 75 crore for further initiatives. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the ‘NAAM 200’ event, where this commemorative stamp honored their 200-year legacy.
